Hazardous Waste Guidelines Hazardous waste should not be placed into your regular collection. At this time, we do not handle or dispose of any hazardous waste. Use the information below to help identify and properly dispose of your hazardous material. Batteries All types of rechargeable household and auto batteries may be disposed of by local businesses such as WalMart, Radio Shack, Choice Building Supply and others. Check with the local businesses to see what types of batteries they will accept. Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs (CFLs) If you wish to dispose of CFLs in your trash, seal the bulb in two plastic bags and place into your collection container for your next pick up. For more information regarding the disposal of CFLs, click on the link below. Motor Oil Oil cannot be placed into your collection receptacle. AutoZone, WalMart and other auto parts and/or service stores handle the disposal of motor oil. Please call the stores for more specific instructions. Paint Paint that is completely dried may be thrown away in the regular trash collection as it is no longer considered hazardous. If there is a small amount of leftover paint in the can, it must be dried out, which can be done by adding an absorbent material (such as cat litter). Latex paint (the type that can be cleaned with water) needs to be air-dried in its container. After the paint is completely solidified, it can be disposed with the regular trash collection. Prescription Drugs Do not flush prescription drugs down the toilet or drain unless the label or accompanying patient information specifically instructs you to do so. In order to properly dispose of prescription drugs in the trash, please follow these guidelines:
